Overview

MK6592 + docetaxel is an experimental combination therapy comprised of the investigational small molecule MK6592, an Aurora kinase (AURK) inhibitor, and docetaxel, a well-established taxane-class chemotherapeutic that stabilizes microtubules and inhibits mitosis. MK6592 was developed for oncology indications, aiming to disrupt cell proliferation via inhibition of Aurora kinases, key regulators of mitotic cell division. Docetaxel is widely used in the treatment of various solid tumors and exerts its antineoplastic effects by promoting microtubule assembly and preventing disassembly, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. The combination was tested in Phase 1 studies for relapsed or refractory advanced solid tumors, but development was discontinued at an early stage.
