Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ML-055 is a next-generation small molecule agonist of the M1 and M4 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, currently under development by MapLight Therapeutics for the treatment of various neuropsychiatric conditions. Utilizing MapLight's proprietary circuit-based discovery platform, ML-055 is designed to modulate both the direct and indirect neural pathways to alleviate symptoms associated with disorders such as schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease psychosis. The program aims to improve upon the profile of first-generation muscarinic agonists, such as ML-007, by offering significantly enhanced potency and the potential for optimized delivery formats, including once-daily oral administration or long-acting injectable (LAI) formulations. As of early 2026, ML-055 is in the preclinical stage, with the company working toward the nomination of a formal development candidate to advance into IND-enabling studies.
