Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**MLI-AuNCs** is an investigational, thermosensitive lipid-bilayer-coated gold nanocage formulation co-loading indocyanine green and monophosphoryl lipid A for near-infrared-triggered immunogenic phototherapy of malignant melanoma. Gold nanocages and indocyanine green absorb near-infrared light to generate local heat and reactive oxygen species for combined photothermal and photodynamic tumor destruction, while monophosphoryl lipid A provides Toll-like receptor 4-mediated innate immune stimulation. In murine melanoma studies, the formulation accumulated in tumors following intravenous administration and was intended to promote dendritic-cell maturation and effector T-cell responses that could limit metastatic spread and relapse.
