MLKL ASO

MLKL ASO is an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) designed to knock down the expression of the mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL). Developed in collaboration with Ionis Pharmaceuticals, this agent is primarily used in preclinical research to investigate the role of MLKL in pathological processes such as atherosclerosis and hematopoiesis. MLKL is a well-known mediator of necroptosis, but research using this ASO has also identified its role in regulating lipid metabolism and endocytic trafficking in splenic endothelial cells. By silencing MLKL, researchers have observed impacts on hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) activation and myeloid colony formation, suggesting that MLKL inhibition may influence the progression of atherosclerotic plaques by modulating the splenic niche.
