Overview

MLN-977 is a small molecule compound that functions as a 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) inhibitor. By blocking the activity of 5-LOX, it prevents the production of leukotrienes, which are potent inflammatory mediators. This mechanism of action makes MLN-977 a potential therapeutic agent for inflammatory respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The drug was developed by PharmaEngine, with Millennium Pharmaceuticals also having been involved in the development of an oral formulation, which was later discontinued.
