Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MM-001 is a proprietary topical cream formulation of recombinant interferon alpha-2b (IFNα2b) developed by MedMelior for the treatment of HPV-related cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cervical cancer. The therapeutic is designed to deliver high local concentrations of the cytokine directly to the affected cervical tissue, where it exerts potent antiviral and immunomodulatory effects. By stimulating the Type I interferon receptor (IFNAR) signaling pathway, MM-001 promotes the clearance of HPV-infected cells and inhibits the progression of neoplastic lesions. A significant clinical advantage of this formulation is its localized action; studies have shown no detectable systemic absorption of IFNα2b, thereby avoiding the flu-like symptoms and other systemic toxicities typically associated with injectable interferon therapies. MM-001 is currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical trials.
