Overview

MM-GVAX is an investigational **allogeneic whole-cell therapeutic cancer vaccine** for multiple myeloma developed at Johns Hopkins. It contains irradiated U266 and H929 multiple-myeloma cell lines admixed with genetically modified K562 bystander cells that secrete granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor. Local GM-CSF secretion is intended to recruit and activate antigen-presenting cells, promote uptake and presentation of myeloma-cell antigens, and induce durable tumor-reactive T-cell immunity. The vaccine was evaluated with lenalidomide in patients with multiple myeloma in complete or near-complete remission. ([pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8678348/))
