Overview

mmAb17-1A is a murine (mouse-derived) monoclonal antibody of the IgG2a subclass, developed for the treatment of advanced colorectal carcinoma. It specifically targets an antigen present on colorectal cancer cells. In clinical studies, it was administered alone or in combination with granulocyte/macrophage-colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) to enhance immune response. The addition of GM-CSF increased both anti-tumor and anti-mouse antibody responses but also raised the incidence of allergic reactions. Patients who developed higher levels of anti-idiotypic antibodies after treatment showed improved survival outcomes[1]. The drug acts primarily through immunotherapy mechanisms by binding to tumor-associated antigens and facilitating immune-mediated destruction of cancer cells.
