Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MMFS-205 is a novel investigational synapse density enhancer, structurally related to and in the same class as MMFS-01 (magnesium L-threonate-based compounds), proposed for the improvement of cognitive function and global outcomes in patients with early Alzheimer's disease or mild cognitive impairment. Like MMFS-01, it is believed to act primarily by increasing brain magnesium levels, which in turn enhances synaptic density and plasticity. Its mechanism addresses multiple molecular pathways implicated in cognitive decline, such as mitochondrial function, synaptic marker expression, and neuronal outgrowth. The compound is being developed as a small molecule for oral administration.
