MN-246 is a small molecule β3-adrenergic receptor agonist that was originally developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corp. Beta-3 adrenergic receptor agonists are a class of drugs that target receptors primarily located in adipose tissue and the bladder detrusor muscle. These agents are typically investigated for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB), where they promote bladder storage by inducing detrusor relaxation, as well as for obesity and metabolic disorders due to their potential to stimulate lipolysis and thermogenesis. The development of MN-246 has been discontinued globally.
