Overview

MNI-672 is an Iodine-123 labeled radiopharmaceutical developed by Molecular NeuroImaging (now part of Invicro) for the diagnostic imaging of cerebral beta-amyloid (Aβ) plaques using Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). As a small molecule tracer, MNI-672 binds specifically to Aβ deposits in the brain, which are a primary pathological hallmark of Alzheimer's disease. By enabling the visualization and quantification of amyloid burden, MNI-672 serves as a diagnostic tool to assist in the detection or exclusion of Alzheimer's pathology in patients with cognitive impairment. The use of SPECT imaging with MNI-672 offers a potentially more accessible and cost-effective alternative to PET-based amyloid imaging agents.
