Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MNKD-102 is an investigational, concentrated dry powder formulation of treprostinil developed by MannKind Corporation using its proprietary Technosphere inhalation technology. Treprostinil is a synthetic analogue of prostacyclin (PGI2) that induces potent vasodilation in the pulmonary and systemic arterial vascular beds and inhibits platelet aggregation. MNKD-102 is designed to deliver a higher concentration of treprostinil per inhalation compared to existing therapies like Tyvaso DPI, aiming to optimize the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD). The Technosphere platform allows for rapid absorption and high bioavailability through the deep lung, potentially offering a more convenient dosing regimen for patients requiring higher doses of inhaled prostacyclins.
