Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MnP-05 is a novel, brain-penetrant manganese porphyrin-based superoxide dismutase (SOD) mimic designed to mitigate oxidative stress and secondary brain injury. It exhibits superior blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability compared to earlier generation free radical scavengers. In preclinical models of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO), MnP-05 has demonstrated neuroprotective effects, including improved neurological scores, reduced BBB disruption, and decreased expression of oxidative stress and apoptosis markers. The compound is being investigated for its potential to treat early brain injury (EBI) and delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) following stroke.
