MNP-VERU is a nanoparticle formulation of the tubulin inhibitor VERU-111 (sabizabulin). It consists of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) loaded with VERU-111, designed to enhance the delivery, bioavailability, and therapeutic index of the drug in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. The formulation targets beta-III and beta-IV tubulin isoforms, which are often overexpressed in drug-resistant tumors. By inhibiting these tubulin subunits and modulating miR-200c expression, MNP-VERU disrupts microtubule assembly, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that MNP-VERU is more effective than the free drug in suppressing pancreatic cancer cell growth and reducing tumor volume in xenograft models.
