MNPs-Lf-EVs

**MNPs-Lf-EVs** is an orally administered, preclinical colon-targeted extracellular-vesicle therapeutic being investigated for **ulcerative colitis**. It consists of melanin nanoparticles loaded into extracellular vesicles derived from *Lactobacillus fermentum*. The melanin nanoparticle cargo is intended to reduce oxidative stress through reactive-oxygen-species scavenging, while the bacterial extracellular-vesicle component is intended to modulate intestinal microbiota and inflammatory signaling. In mouse colitis models, the construct localized to inflamed colonic tissue after oral administration, reduced inflammation and epithelial apoptosis, supported intestinal-barrier restoration, and increased gut-microbiota diversity.
