MNV-BM-PLC (also known as MNV-201) is an autologous cell therapy developed by Minovia Therapeutics using its proprietary Mitochondrial Augmentation Technology (MAT). The therapy consists of a patient's own CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) that have been enriched ex vivo with healthy, functional mitochondria isolated from allogeneic placental tissue. This approach aims to restore mitochondrial function in patients with primary mitochondrial diseases (such as Pearson Syndrome and Kearns-Sayre Syndrome) and hematological disorders like myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), where mitochondrial dysfunction contributes to ineffective hematopoiesis. By reinfusing these augmented cells intravenously, the therapy seeks to improve cellular energy metabolism and clinical outcomes without the need for pre-conditioning.
