MOD-6031 is a long-acting, reversibly PEGylated synthetic peptide therapeutic based on oxyntomodulin (OXM), a gastrointestinal neuropeptide with a sequence identical to endogenous human OXM. It acts as a dual agonist at both the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) and the glucagon receptor (GCGR). The drug was designed using a proprietary bi-functional hydrolysable linker to prolong its half-life, thereby reducing dosing frequency and improving pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics compared to native oxyntomodulin. MOD-6031 is being developed for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes, aiming to promote weight loss by reducing food intake, increasing energy expenditure, enhancing satiety after crossing the blood-brain barrier, slowing gastric emptying, and improving glycemic control through regulation of insulin and glucose levels[1][2][3][4][5].
