ModCAR-GRP78 is a modular chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) cell therapy being developed by Hauul Bio for the treatment of solid tumors, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and colorectal cancer (CRC). The therapy utilizes a modular CAR platform designed to target GRP78 (Glucose-Regulated Protein 78), a chaperone protein that is typically located in the endoplasmic reticulum but becomes overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells. By targeting surface-expressed GRP78, ModCAR-GRP78 aims to selectively eliminate tumor cells while minimizing off-target effects. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
