Overview
The **Modernized Production Adenovirus Vaccine (MPAV or MPACV)** is an investigational live oral vaccine developed to update and improve the manufacturing process of the existing U.S. military adenovirus vaccine, which protects against adenovirus serotypes 4 and 7 causing acute respiratory disease. It consists of live, non-attenuated viruses in coated tablets that bypass the stomach to infect the intestines and elicit immunity. Developed by PaxVax under a U.S. Army contract, it entered Phase 1 clinical trials after an IND submission to the FDA in January 2017, aiming for enhanced production scalability while maintaining the established safety and efficacy profile demonstrated in military recruits since 2011.[4][9]
