It is specifically designed for the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and associated infertility, particularly in patients categorized under the phlegm-dampness TCM syndrome. The formula is a modification of the classic Cangfu Daotan Decoction, which traditionally aims to dry dampness, resolve phlegm, and regulate Qi. In the context of PCOS, it is used to regulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, improve insulin sensitivity, and lower serum androgen levels, thereby promoting follicular development and ovulation.
