Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Modified Danggui-Shaoyao San is an herbal formula based on the classical traditional Chinese medicine prescription Danggui Shaoyao San, a combination of six herbs: Angelica sinensis (danggui), Paeonia lactiflora (baishao), Ligusticum chuanxiong (chuanxiong), Poria cocos (fuling), Alisma orientalis (zexie), and Atractylodes macrocephala (baizhu)[1][2][3]. It is commonly used for gynecological conditions such as menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, and other deficiency-related disorders, but also shows promise for neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, modulation of multiple neurotransmitter systems, and gut microbiota regulation[2][3][5]. The "modified" version refers to variations in dosage or substitution/addition of ingredients tailored to specific patient presentations, typical in clinical TCM practice.
