Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Modified Fuzheng Jiedu Huayu Decoction (FJHD), also known as Jiawei Fuzheng Jiedu Huayu, is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by researchers at the **Beijing University of Chinese Medicine** and the **Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Affiliated Hospital**, in collaboration with **Nankai University**. It is primarily investigated as an adjunctive oral therapy for pneumonia, particularly cases caused by multidrug-resistant *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* (MDR-PA). The formulation is based on the TCM principles of 'Fuzheng' (supporting body resistance), 'Jiedu' (detoxifying), and 'Huayu' (resolving blood stasis). FJHD exerts its effects through a multi-target anti-inflammatory mechanism, which includes the inhibition of the **NLRP3 inflammasome** and the suppression of **neutrophil extracellular traps** (NETosis). It has been shown to reduce the infiltration of macrophages and neutrophils and lower levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as **TNF-α**, **IL-1β**, and **IL-6** by modulating the **NF-κB** signaling pathway. Bioactive constituents identified in the decoction include Forsythiaside A, Paeoniflorin, β-ecdysterone, Forsythin, Baicalin, and Ginsenoside Rb1.
