Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Modified Huanglian Wendan Decoction is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula being evaluated for the treatment of metabolic syndrome. It is a variation of the classic Huanglian Wendan Decoction, which is traditionally used to clear heat and resolve phlegm. This specific modification includes twelve herbal ingredients: Coptidis Rhizoma, Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum, Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, Bambusae Caulis in Taenias, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, Poria, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle, Eucommiae Cortex, Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, Puerariae Lobatae Radix, Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, and Eupatorii Herba. The formula is being studied by the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang Chinese Medicine University for its potential to reduce oxidative stress, improve insulin resistance, and regulate glucose and lipid metabolism in patients with metabolic syndrome.
