Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Modified Qing-Zao-Jiu-Fei Decoction (MQZJFD) is a traditional Chinese herbal formula developed for the treatment of chronic pulmonary diseases, specifically pneumoconiosis and pulmonary fibrosis. It is an optimized version of the classical Qing-Zao-Jiu-Fei Decoction (QZJFD), enhanced by the addition of *Trichosanthis Fructus* (TF) and *Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus* (FTB). The formulation contains several bioactive markers, including amygdalin, glycyrrhizic acid, and chlorogenic acid. MQZJFD acts by modulating several key signaling pathways involved in inflammation and fibrosis; specifically, it upregulates the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway while suppressing the NF-κB and MAPK (including ERK, p38, and JNK) pathways. This multi-target approach results in the reduction of oxidative stress, collagen deposition, and the expression of fibrotic biomarkers such as matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) and alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA).
