Overview
Modified Shaogan Fuzi Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula derived from the classic Shaogan Fuzi Decoction, which typically consists of *Paeonia lactiflora* (Shao Yao), *Glycyrrhiza uralensis* (Gan Cao), and processed *Aconitum carmichaelii* (Fuzi). This modified version is specifically developed by DongFang Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) characterized by Cold Syndrome in TCM theory. The decoction is hypothesized to exert therapeutic effects by regulating intestinal mucosal immune homeostasis and modulating inflammatory pathways. It is used to alleviate joint pain, swelling, and stiffness associated with RA by addressing the underlying immune dysregulation and inflammatory response.
