Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Modified Sijunzi decoction granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) botanical formulation developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. It is specifically designed for the treatment of ulcerative colitis in the remission phase, targeting the "dampness stagnancy due to spleen deficiency" syndrome. The formula is a modification of the classic Sijunzi Decoction, which traditionally contains *Panax ginseng*, *Atractylodes macrocephala*, *Poria cocos*, and *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*. The modification involves adding specific herbs to address the dampness and chronic inflammation associated with colitis. In clinical studies, it is compared against mesalazine to evaluate its efficacy in maintaining remission and improving TCM-specific symptoms.
