Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Modified Sini Powder is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula derived from the classical prescription "Sini San" (SNP). The original formula consists of four main herbs: Radix Bupleuri (Chai Hu), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Bai Shao), Fructus Aurantii stir-fried with bran (Zhi Shi), and Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gan Cao)[5]. "Modified" versions of this formula adjust the composition or proportions to target specific clinical indications or patient presentations. Modified Sini Powder has been used in China for various conditions including depression, insomnia, and gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome[6][8][10]. Its mechanism of action is believed to involve regulation of neurotransmitter systems, anti-inflammatory effects, modulation of circadian rhythms in depression[2], and harmonization of liver and spleen function according to TCM theory. Modern pharmacological studies suggest it may influence targets such as inflammatory cytokines and neurotransmitter pathways.
