Overview
modified Xiao Chai Hu Tang (also known as Jiawei Xiao Chaihu Tang or flavored chaihu soup) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation derived from the classic Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction). It is being evaluated in clinical trials, often in combination with antidepressants like duloxetine, for the treatment of cancer-related depression, anxiety, insomnia, and pain. The formulation typically consists of a base of Bupleurum Radix (Chai Hu), Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin), Pinelliae Rhizoma (Ban Xia), Ginseng Radix (Ren Shen), Glycyrrhizae Radix (Gan Cao), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Sheng Jiang), and Zizyphi Fructus (Da Zao), with additional herbs added to enhance its therapeutic effects on mood, sleep, and inflammation.
