Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Modified Yishen Daluo Yin formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) decoction primarily developed and researched at institutions such as Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University for the treatment of neuroinflammatory disorders, specifically relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). The formula is designed based on the TCM principles of "tonifying the kidney and dredging the collaterals" to address the autoimmune and neurodegenerative components of MS. Mechanistically, research indicates that the formula exerts immunomodulatory effects by regulating the balance between Th17 and Treg cells, thereby reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17 and IFN-gamma while increasing anti-inflammatory signals. It is also investigated for potential neuroprotective properties and its ability to promote remyelination in the central nervous system. Clinical studies often evaluate it as a complementary therapy used in conjunction with conventional disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) to reduce relapse rates and improve disability scores in patients with MS.
