Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Modified Yunpi Jiedu Tongluo Qushi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by researchers at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Based on TCM theory, the formula is designed to strengthen the spleen (Yunpi), clear heat and detoxify (Jiedu), unblock the meridians and collaterals (Tongluo), and eliminate dampness (Qushi) to alleviate joint pain and swelling. Pharmacological studies indicate that the formula works by modulating the immune system and reducing systemic inflammation. Specifically, it has been shown to decrease the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1 (IL-1), and interleukin-6 (IL-6), while potentially inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway. It is primarily administered as an oral decoction for patients diagnosed with the spleen deficiency and damp-heat toxin syndrome of RA.
