Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Modulen IBD** is a proprietary, nutritionally complete polymeric enteral nutrition formula developed by Nestlé Health Science for the dietary management of active Crohn's disease, particularly as exclusive enteral nutrition in pediatric patients. It is a casein-based, lactose-free formula enriched with transforming growth factor beta 2 and supplied as an oral or tube-feeding nutritional product. Its therapeutic rationale combines nutritional repletion and exclusion of usual dietary exposures with potential anti-inflammatory and mucosal-repair effects attributed to transforming growth factor beta 2. Clinical studies have evaluated Modulen IBD for induction of remission, mucosal healing, nutritional recovery, and maintenance support in Crohn's disease; it has also been studied as adjunctive nutritional support in pediatric ulcerative colitis. It is a medical nutrition product rather than an INN-designated pharmaceutical active ingredient.
