Overview

Mofesertib (Chinese name: 甲磺酸莫非赛定) is a novel small molecule antiviral drug developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Structurally classified as a dihydropyrimidine derivative, it acts as a core protein assembly modulator targeting the HBV capsid protein. Mofesertib disrupts the proper assembly of viral core particles in a dose-dependent manner and accelerates abnormal capsid formation, thereby strongly inhibiting HBV replication and production of mature virions. It has demonstrated significant antiviral activity both as monotherapy and in combination with other agents such as nucleos(t)ide analogues or ritonavir. The most common adverse effects reported are elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels and hypertriglyceridemia. Mofesertib is being developed by Dongyangguang Pharmaceutical for oral administration and is currently in Phase III clinical trials in China for chronic hepatitis B[7][10].
