Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MOG196-NPs is an investigational nanoparticle-based immunotherapy consisting of biodegradable poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) nanoparticles encapsulating MOG196, a myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein peptide epitope, along with a dendritic cell (DC) activator and an MHC-E enhancer. Developed by TangGene and Long Island University, MOG196-NPs are designed to target and activate dendritic cells in vivo, promoting the presentation of the MOG196 peptide by nonclassical MHC class Ib molecules (HLA-E in humans and Qa-1 in mice). This presentation selectively stimulates and expands myelin-specific, MHC-E-restricted regulatory CD8 T cells (CD8 Tregs), which in turn suppress pathogenic autoreactive CD4 T cells. MOG196-NPs is being developed as a potential preventive and curative treatment for multiple sclerosis.
