Overview

MOL4249 is a small molecule drug developed as a STAT (signal transducer and activator of transcription) inhibitor, specifically targeting the STAT3 transcription factor. It was initially developed by Moleculin Biotech for the treatment of immune system diseases, skin and musculoskeletal diseases, and neoplasms. Its primary indications included plaque psoriasis and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. In clinical studies for mild-to-moderate plaque psoriasis, MOL4249 demonstrated efficacy with some patients achieving complete clearance or significant improvement in psoriatic plaques compared to placebo[1][2][5]. The drug is more potent than its analog MOL4239 and has better lipid solubility[5][9].
