MoLRx is a preclinical anticancer therapeutic developed by TRIZ Biopharma Innovations. It consists of antisense oligoRNA nanostructures designed to simultaneously target multiple RNA types, including transfer RNA (tRNA), messenger RNA (mRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA), within cancer cells. By targeting these essential components of the protein synthesis machinery, MoLRx aims to overcome multidrug resistance (MDR) in cancer. The drug utilizes carboxylated oligomeric RNA fragments that form a combinatorial mixture of derivatives with varying lengths and charges. These modified oligonucleotides are resistant to nuclease degradation and selectively accumulate in cancer cells, particularly adenocarcinomas, through enhanced pinocytosis. This selective uptake mechanism is intended to minimize toxicity to healthy tissues while preventing the development of resistant cancer cell populations.
