Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Momast is a patented natural polyphenolic complex sustainably extracted from olive mill wastewater (olive vegetation water) of the Coratina olive cultivar using physical and mechanical filtration methods without chemical solvents. Developed by Bioenutra, Momast is rich in bioactive phenolic compounds, primarily hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol, and verbascoside. It exhibits potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hypocholesterolemic properties. Research indicates that Momast modulates cholesterol metabolism by inhibiting 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase) and downregulating PCSK9 expression, thereby enhancing LDL receptor-mediated LDL uptake. Additionally, it has demonstrated protective effects against p-cresol-induced renal cell damage and heavy metal-induced neurotoxicity.
