Overview

Nasomega is an intranasal spray formulation combining the corticosteroid **mometasone furoate** and the antihistamine **olopatadine hydrochloride**. Developed by **Daewoong Pharmaceutical** (and partnered with **Great Bear Pharmaceutical** for certain markets), it is indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with severe allergic rhinitis and nasal polyps. Mometasone furoate acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, reducing the production of inflammatory mediators. Olopatadine hydrochloride is a selective H1-receptor antagonist that inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells. The combination is designed to provide superior efficacy over monotherapy by addressing both the early-phase (histamine-mediated) and late-phase (inflammatory) responses of allergic rhinitis.
