Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mometasone furoate + sodium fusidate is a topical combination therapy developed by Vanan Pharma for the treatment of inflammatory skin disorders complicated by bacterial infection. Mometasone furoate is a potent synthetic corticosteroid that exerts anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, thereby modulating gene expression to reduce the production of inflammatory mediators. Sodium fusidate is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by targeting elongation factor G (EF-G), preventing its release from the ribosome-GDP complex and thus halting the translocation step of translation. This combination is formulated as a topical cream to provide simultaneous relief from inflammation and treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, such as those caused by *Staphylococcus aureus*.
