Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mometasone furoate nano-nasal spray (FM-NNS) is a novel nano-formulation of the synthetic corticosteroid mometasone furoate, developed by Saffron Pharmaceuticals. This small molecule drug is delivered as an intranasal spray and is specifically engineered to treat inflammatory airway conditions such as acute rhinosinusitis and allergic rhinitis. By acting as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, it reduces the production of inflammatory mediators and decreases the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the nasal mucosa. The nano-formulation technology is intended to enhance the delivery and therapeutic profile of the drug compared to conventional mometasone furoate nasal sprays. A randomized clinical trial (NCT05639959) was conducted to evaluate its efficacy and safety in patients suffering from acute rhinosinusitis.
