monatepil

Monatepil (development code names AJ-2615, AD-2615) is a long-acting dihydrodibenzothiepin derivative characterized as both a calcium channel antagonist and an alpha 1-adrenergic receptor antagonist. It was developed as an antihypertensive and for other cardiovascular indications including ischemic heart disorders and atherosclerosis. Monatepil inhibits voltage-operated calcium channels, leading to decreased calcium influx in vascular smooth muscle, and blocks alpha 1-adrenergic receptors, providing vasodilation. It demonstrated long-lasting activity in preclinical and clinical studies, as well as the ability to reverse or prevent vasoconstriction and arterial spasm, with proposed clinical utility in coronary artery bypass graft surgery and hypertension[1][2][4][7].
