**Monoamine precursors** was an investigational oral combination regimen evaluated by Sydney South West Area Health Service for psychostimulant withdrawal and psychostimulant dependence. The regimen comprised 5-hydroxytryptophan, l-tyrosine, and dl-phenylalanine, administered with vitamin and mineral cofactors. It was intended to replenish substrates for serotonin and catecholamine synthesis, potentially mitigating monoamine depletion associated with withdrawal from psychostimulants. A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study administered the regimen daily for four weeks alongside manualized cognitive behavioral therapy.
