Overview

Monoclonal antibody 4B5 anti-idiotype vaccine is a human/mouse heterohybridoma-derived monoclonal antibody that functions as an anti-idiotypic immunogen. It mimics the ganglioside GD2 antigen and is designed to elicit both cellular and humoral immune responses against GD2-expressing tumor cells. Upon administration, it induces the production of antibodies (Ab3) that recognize the GD2 antigen on tumor cells—primarily neuroblastoma and melanoma—thereby stimulating an antitumor immune response. The mechanism leverages the idiotype–anti-idiotype network by using an Ab2 (the anti-Id mAb) to mimic a tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen (GD2), effectively serving as a surrogate for active immunization against this target[6][9][1][4]. The hybridoma producing this antibody was deposited with ATCC as HB11447[4].
