Monodora myristica extract

Monodora myristica extract is a botanical product derived from the seeds of the African Nutmeg tree (*Monodora myristica*), a plant native to Africa. It is primarily investigated in academic and preclinical research for its potential therapeutic applications in metabolic and inflammatory conditions. The extract contains a complex mixture of phytochemicals, including phenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and cardiac glycosides. Research indicates that the extract may exert anti-diabetic effects by inhibiting key carbohydrate-digesting enzymes, specifically alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase, thereby helping to manage postprandial hyperglycemia. Additionally, it has demonstrated antioxidant properties through free radical scavenging and the prevention of lipid peroxidation in tissues such as the pancreas and liver.
