Overview

*Monoglyceride docosahexaenoic acid* refers to docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) chemically bound as a monoglyceride, making it a structured lipid distinct from the standard triglyceride or free fatty acid forms. As a highly bioavailable form of DHA, MAG-DHA displays improved cellular uptake and efficacy over traditional forms. DHA is an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid critical for membrane structure and function, particularly in neural and ocular tissues. MAG-DHA has shown anti-cancer activity in preclinical models—either alone or in combination with chemotherapy (carboplatin)—reducing tumor cell proliferation and invasion, inducing apoptosis and autophagy, and suppressing EGFR/ERK signaling. MAG-DHA also shows utility as a nutraceutical or feed additive for improving growth, tissue DHA content, and intestinal health in aquatic organisms. It is primarily considered a dietary supplement and experimental nutraceutical; the pharmaceutical potential is under investigation[1][4][6].
