Overview

Monophosphothiamine is a phosphorylated derivative of thiamine (vitamin B1), also known as thiamine monophosphate. It is used as a supplement to treat macrocytic anemia and other conditions caused by vitamin B1 deficiency[2][3]. As a thiamine derivative, it plays an essential role in energy metabolism and neuronal function. Thiamine derivatives act primarily as coenzymes in carbohydrate metabolism, facilitating the conversion of pyruvic acid to acetyl-CoA for entry into the Krebs cycle[6][8]. Monophosphothiamine may also be used for neuritis, polyneuritis, and asthenic conditions (weakness)[3][4].
