Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Montanide ISA 50 is a mineral oil-based adjuvant specifically designed for the manufacture of water-in-oil (W/O) vaccine emulsions. Developed by SEPPIC, it is widely used in the veterinary industry to enhance the immune response against inactivated viral, bacterial, or parasitic antigens. The adjuvant functions by creating a depot at the injection site, which allows for the slow, sustained release of the antigen and promotes the recruitment and activation of antigen-presenting cells. This results in a robust and long-lasting immune response, encompassing both humoral (antibody) and cellular (T-cell) immunity. It is particularly noted for its stability and is used across a variety of species, including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry.
