Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist, and prednisone, a corticosteroid. Montelukast works by selectively blocking the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor type-1, preventing bronchoconstriction and reducing inflammation in the airways. Prednisone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation through multiple pathways. This combination is used primarily for respiratory conditions where both bronchoconstriction and inflammation need to be addressed, such as asthma and mycoplasma pneumonia.
