Overview

MOR106 is a fully human IgG1 monoclonal antibody designed to selectively target and inhibit interleukin 17C (IL-17C), a cytokine implicated in dermal inflammation and atopic dermatitis. It was jointly developed by Galapagos and MorphoSys, with Novartis later acquiring exclusive worldwide development and commercialization rights. MOR106 was the first publicly disclosed monoclonal antibody targeting IL-17C to enter clinical development. Although it showed initial signs of efficacy and was generally well tolerated in early-phase studies, subsequent Phase 2 trials for atopic dermatitis were terminated due to futility, as the drug did not demonstrate sufficient efficacy. Despite this, its safety profile and pharmacokinetics suggest potential for further investigation in other indications[1][2][3][4][6].
