Overview

MOR107 is a synthetic peptide and selective agonist of the angiotensin II receptor type 2 (AT2R), developed as a potential antifibrotic and antineoplastic agent. It is classified as a lanthipeptide and was originally developed by Lanthio Pharma using proprietary technology later acquired by MorphoSys (now part of Novartis). The drug was investigated primarily for diseases involving tissue fibrosis such as diabetic nephropathy and other fibrotic conditions. Its mechanism involves activation of the protective arm of the renin-angiotensin system via AT2R agonism. Clinical development reached Phase 1 trials in healthy volunteers but has since been discontinued for all indications[1][3][4][5].
