Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Morevirin is a small molecule antiviral drug developed by Valenta Pharmaceuticals, containing the active ingredient enisamium iodide. It is approved for the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), including COVID-19. The primary mechanism of action involves the inhibition of viral RNA-directed RNA polymerase (RdRp), which prevents the synthesis of viral RNA and halts replication. Beyond its direct antiviral activity, Morevirin acts as an interferon inducer, enhancing the body's innate immune response by stimulating the production of endogenous interferons. It also provides symptomatic relief through its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
